HISTORY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Looking back cannot move forward, however, looking back allows us to measure progress. The Tremblay-Romaines and Lessards from Bergeronnes, the Tremblay-Mathias from Saint-Urbain and the Bergerons and Bouchards from Saint-Fidèle have left their mark on entrepreneurship in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
These people from modest origins managed to overcome the difficulties, and they enabled future generations to have a better life, and I hope to inspire the following generations.

THE TREMBLAY-MATHIAS DE SAINT-URBAIN FAMILY
The Montagnais hotel
According to oral tradition, Robert Gravel would have chosen the name of the hotel Le Montagnais in honor of the mother of his adoptive father Philippe Tremblay-Mathias. Philippe Tremblay's mother had Montagnais origins and he would have chosen the name of the hotel to remember his name. Philippe Tremblay also had a hotel at the Basin in Chicoutimi which bore the name of the Hôtel du Parc.
Louise Harvey was a businesswoman and she had a small bakery. Which was rare at that time. His breads were said to sell like hot cakes. Her husband sold cheese. Louise Harvey had Montagnais origins.
Auberge Le Parasol
His brother Alexandre Tremblay-Mathias jr- owned the Auberge Le Parasol.
THE TREMBLAY-JÉROME-ROMAINE DES BERGERONNES FAMILY
We find the Tremblay-Jérôme in the Haut Saguenay region and on the North Shore. Jérôme Tremblay-Romaine is one of the founding members of the first forestry company in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.

Business
Every year the Lessard family left Chicoutimi and Saint-Ambroise to visit their family in Les Bergeronnes. It was the only time in the year that they could meet the family members. Vacations were rare in the forestry sector and absences frequent.
In 1923, the Lessard brothers opened their first business on Racine Street in Chicoutimi.
Subsequently, a new art deco business will be built in 1930. We can still see the description of the business today.
